Arc’teryx began its journey in 1989 as Rock Solid, a company focused on creating climbing gear. However, it wasn’t until 1991 that the brand truly took flight with a name change inspired by the Archaeopteryx, a prehistoric creature often considered the first bird.
It was symbolic. Just as the Archaeopteryx represented a leap forward in evolution, Arc’teryx aimed to revolutionize the outdoor gear industry. The company’s founders envisioned creating products that pushed the boundaries of performance and innovation, much like the Archaeopteryx did in its time.
