rag & bone launches its debut OC boutique with trademark authenticity and craftsmanship.
Sting may have been the first famous Englishman in New York, thanks to his 1987 song of the same name. Yet the origin story of rag & bone co-founder Marcus Wainwright is very much cemented in Manhattan lore where he arrived with “nothing but a backpack and no idea what to do with my life.”
Founded in 2002, rag & bone was ignited by the desire to create men’s jeans that were comfortable, bespoke, and made in the USA. Wainwright trained himself in the denim craft with Kentucky Apparel, landing his first account in Williamsburg.
And so a new uniform was born. Today, the rag & bone world takeover includes stores in 50 countries, and the cool wardrobe arsenal now encompasses eyewear, fragrance, bags, and shoes.
The boutique, one of the largest stores in the brand portfolio, will be located across from Bloomingdale’s. The design will combine East Coast industrial vibes (raw, exposed elements) with SoCal sensibility (natural light, leather finishes). It will evoke all the effortless attitude of its lifestyle campaigns.
rag & bone was named after the English rag and bone men who collected unwanted household items and sold them to merchants. Wainwright co-founded the brand with his prep-school mates, Nathan Bogle and David Neville. None had fashion training but shared a deep love for English tailoring, merging craftsmanship with urban edge. The authenticity of workwear and originality of NYC remain the brand’s golden
threads.
The OC-exclusive boutique will stock the full range for men and women, including fragrance, accessories, denim, and fall’s must-have outerwear. Think, denim bombers and denim blazers, and go-anywhere cardigans.
