It was a style-and-film immersion of epic proportions. And everyone was ready for their close-up as StyleWeekOC and Newport Beach Film Festival vividly came to life over a five-day collaboration in October. There were flashbulbs, fanfare—and yes, high fashion—as thousands arrived for big red-carpet debuts alongside more intimate star-studded moments with Bob Mackie, Carol Burnett, Julianne Hough, Stassi Schroeder, and Aubrey Plaza. Energy was at full tilt with retailers, restaurants, theaters and hotels buzzing with activity as Fashion Island jolted a new era of discovery.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Newport Beach Film Festival hosted a dazzling slate of 2024 honorees including, of course, Colleen Atwood’s Career Achievement Award and Arianne Phillips’ Creative Visionary Award, which were presented on the main stage at Fashion Island. Guests revelled in costume displays housed in both Bloomingdale’s and GARYS store windows along with insightful retrospective conversations about their legendary work shaping the cultural narratives surrounding fashion and film.
