Food & Drink

The patio at 59th & Lex is one of Fashion Island’s most desirable perches. Adding to the allure: A charming new GM and brunch. We’ll drink to that.

It was designed as a place for the fashionable to dine. When Bloomingdale’s opened its first restaurant at its Manhattan flagship in the 1970s, it set out to capture more than just the ladies who lunch. It became a venue to build lasting relationships with its clientele, Big Brown Bags in tow.

NYC expat Anthony Capone is infusing East Coast-style service and brand awareness into 59th & Lex, the signature restaurant at Fashion Island. Already, Capone has made a name for himself with the community introducing happy house, a weekend brunch menu and buyouts for private parties. He arrived in July with his family, relocating to Newport Beach from Rye, NY.

New General Manager of 59th & Lex

“We’re reinjecting Bloomingdales’ culture to the restaurant with an elevated style of service that we have in New York,” he says. The centerpiece of 59th & Lex is undoubtedly the patio.

Espresso martini and chicken salad

Here under the umbrellas, regulars nibble on the Almond Chicken Salad and sip on Espresso Martinis while watching the world go by. “The patio is secluded with this resort-inspired experience,” says Capone “It’s the best place to slow down and people-watch.”
