Fashion Island Historical Display
Fashion Island: 50 Years in the Making, an Aerial Photography Retrospective
The historic aerial photo exhibit will be on display in Atrium Court, capturing the grandeur and vision of Fashion Island. For the Instagram generation, it will provide a visual storytelling of Irvine Company’s earliest blueprint for a cohesive Southern California vibe, including black-and-white images of the barren land in 1953.
With construction commencing in the mid-60s, and later in 2009 along with Fashion Island’s three-year, $100-million reimagining, we now have Orange County's most premier shopping destination. Fashion Island is the leading landmark for shopping, dining, and tourists, along with the encompassment of 50 evolutionary and fabulous years of fashion. Sponsored by WoodSnap.
This visual narrative covers five decades of Fashion Island with images selected from the 2017 edition of Real Estate Masterwork Series, Half Century Aerial Photography, Newport Center/Fashion Island, a book by Fred Emmert, aerial photographer, and Richard Frost, developer-turned-historian. Together, they describe the work as “a chronological time machine of an untold story.”
Make sure to also join Fred Emmert and Richard Frost for book signings in Atrium Court on the 2nd floor during the following times:
